About Us

Mr. and Mrs. Awesome are nearing twenty years of marriage and we are more thrilled with our life and our love than the day we married. Our life, like everyone's, has had ups and downs, but we try to focus on the good. We don't always succeed, but we try. At A Loved Lived Life, we want to love, learn, and truly live our lives until our last breath. And we want to share our loves, lessons, and adventures with you - big and small.

Our interests are diverse and one of the things we are grateful for is that we love learning and experiencing life together. Maybe this week we're talking about the joys of snowshoeing or hiking and next week it's all about the simple pleasure of a bowl of split pea soup. Food, travel, camping, hiking, off-roading, backpacking, exploring, and learning, that's what you can expect in our little corner of the interwebs. Maybe with a few book reviews, knitting projects, and home improvement endeavors thrown in. We love food. We love making it and we love eating it. And you eat every day, at least three times a day, so there might be more food adventures than travel adventures shared, but we hope you enjoy the journey to A Loved Lived Life.

So, all of that is well and good to share, but does any of it make us qualified to offer an informed opinion on anything? If you follow one of our recipes is it worth following? Well, here's a bit on our experiences:

Mr. Awesome has a culinary degree, worked as an Executive Chef, and managed restaurants, both chain and fine dining. He has mad knife skills, oven-mitt hands (seriously, he will pull a pan out of a 350 degree oven without flinching), and the technical prowess to think nothing of whipping up a chocolate souffle on a Tuesday evening. Mrs. Awesome vowed never to learn to cook, but was slowly drawn into the kitchen by a clever Mr. Awesome. She has no professional training, but has been cooking for innumerable years. She has a creative streak, has taken cooking classes, and subscribed to just about every cooking magazine that's been published, some of which have since gone out of business. (We miss you Gourmet magazine!) Mrs. Awesome excels at taking a look around the kitchen and making up dishes based on what's on hand and leftovers that need to be used. For example, smoked turkey from Thanksgiving then became smoked turkey pesto gnocchi, then smoked turkey enchilada casserole, and finally smoked turkey flatbread with arugula, figs, and balsamic reduction.

Mr. and Mrs. Awesome have visited 28 countries, 47 U.S. states, and resided in 10 homes in 5 cities throughout the world.

Those of a certain age or musical breadth know the popular song that extols that life continues past the time it's thrilling. This sentiment is as sad as a dirge to Mr. & Mrs. Awesome, co-authors of this blog, but it wasn't always this way. When we first married there were many conversations centered around, 'we'll be happy when'. When we have better cars. Our own place. A dog. More money. On and on it went.

Now we endeavor to live a loved, lived life and hope you will join us on this journey as we all circle the sun together.
